A Predator Moment

Spring is slooowly returning to southern Alberta, and with it the reappearance of my main nemesis bird. If one more person tells me “oh, Eurasian wigeons are everywhere’…

The first duck reports of the year came in last week.  There is very little open water around, but nevertheless a male Eurasian wigeon had been reported so away we went.

No, of course I didn’t see the bloody bird.

The weather was closing in again, so this is all I came up during our quick trip.

  1. I saw your tweet about 14 Rough-legged hawks – didn’t you hear my shriek when I read it? 🙂

  2. Don’t feel bad Pat, I was down to Frank Lake myself on Sunday and didn’t see the Eur. Wigeon. I did get about 14-15 R.L. Hawks though and my first Harrier.

  3. Yep, I just KNEW one of you were going to say that! Thanks so much…

  4. I’ve seen Eurasian Wigeons. They’re very pretty.

  5. The only thing missing is a man. Then you would have a trio of predators. Great pics Pat!
